The spirit of the Olympics
is a reflection of how winners think differently. More than just
entertainment, the Olympics are essays on life’s little lessons. Although a
symbol of success getting the gold is more about triumph as we define it. It is
a dream manifested by clear vision, focus, commitment and discipline. While
winning and the success of being a champion is not necessarily happiness,
happiness is always success and of course is based on one’s personal preferences
and values. The medal is meaningless unless it is earned by overcoming
challenges and the ….of struggle. There has also been an emotional “high” and
spiritual elation from overcoming personal boundaries and thus transcending and
rising above. It is testing our limits, beating the odds, and redefining human
potential as if without borders.
Although life is not always
fair, as we have often witnessed in a sudden fall and desparing moment in an
Olympic game, we are never without choice. The essential difference between
those who rise above and those who defend mediocrity is how one deals with loss,
disappointment and defeat. It often is not about fast we ski in life but how
